Easy to install fix for a drier. My 10-year old dryer has always worked great.. until recently when it met an overly aggressive new roommate who insisted on harshly forcing the timer knob around. Long story short, within the first two months after my roommate moved in, the timer pretty much wasn't working anymore. After he moved out I immediately went shopping for this timer (along with a number of other unrelated items that all mysteriously stopped working within the same few months).Based on my dryer's model number, Amazon told me this would work with my dryer. The connections were a bit difficult to get off the old timer at first because I didn't know how, but once I figured it out they came off pretty easily with a pair of needle-nose pliers and some strategically placed leverage. Once connected, the timer snapped right in place in the panel. Viola, now I have a 10 year old dryer that works like new again. Start to finish I spent about 20 minutes, at least half of which was trying to figure out how to get the wires off the old timer. The only thing that could make me happier about my purchase is if my ex-roommate paid for it....I have 8 year old GE Gas Dryer , but it is still clean and working well. My timer was loose ( because of ware and tear ) and won't start dryer. I went to GE Appliance website and got the part number. I ordered the timer and the knob from Amazon. And I also saw the You Tube video, how to replace the timer. It was very easy for me to replace the timer even I am an Asian American and 62 years old women. This new timer and knob saved me Big money, and I felt I have brand new dryer now. Thanks to Amazon and the company who sells this product. This is my GE Gas dryer model NO: GTDP180GD0WW , Timer Part Number : WE04X20415, Timer Knob Part number : WE01X20374. And thanks to all the reviewers to write down the useful information. My knob on the dryer was free spinning and wouldn't go to all the settings. I thought this was the issue, however an appliance guy said that the knob is probably cracked, he was right and I bought one here on Amazon for $8 that had a metal ring around where the knob attaches to this device and it worked perfectlyThe part is exactly as pictured and fit the dryer perfectly. The original part broke where the know attaches to the timer mechanism. It was some to install and worked like a charm. The price from the vendor was very good too. Sure beats buying a new dryer. You have to get an original replacement, GE WE04X20415, Timer. The knobs for this timer are mostly inferior, even the original ones, they do not last or fit, so have your pliers handy. Welcome back to the fifties.ORIGINAL REVIEW BELOWThe timer is great. Apparently the dial design has changed since this dryer was new... because I purchased a new dial to go along with this timer and now everything works and fits perfectly. Although nothing was wrong with the original dial, it simply didn't fit this timer.I just purchased this timer, and I’m certain it’s the correct timer for my model according to the GE website and also using the model-check feature on this item page. I haven’t installed the timer yet but I first checked my dial on it and it doesn’t fit. It’s a little loose and it doesn’t hug it tight. I don’t see anywhere that says you need to purchase a new dial with this timer. The dial is not cracked or stripped in any way. Is it possible there are versions of this timer that don’t fit our existing dials?
